Meet some of our new players for 2013

Posted by Eversholt Cricket Club on 2 February 2013

Let's find out some more about the players who have chosen to join one of the county's youngest first teams...

James Gage

21-year-old James is a top-order batsman and first-change bowler. He moves to Eversholt from Aspley Guise following a year away from cricket in 2012 (although he did play a handful of games for Eversholt to keep his eye in) to decide on how best to progress. James follows in the footsteps of 19-year-old former Aspley Guise player Lewis Perrin, who has excelled with the bat since joining us in 2011 (scoring 1,260 runs at 34 in 2012). And we feel James has the same amount of potential to replicate the form that Lewis has shown since joining.

Dialect between the two clubs' Chairmen ensures that James moves with the full blessing of Aspley Guise, as was the case with Lewis.

James has also made several appearances for Nottingham Trent University in National University Leagues.

Nicknames: Gagey
Favourite City: Sydney
Favourite Country: England
Favourite Food: Chinese
Favourite Band: The Script
Favourite Film: The Waterboy

Did you know? James is really rather good at FIFA, claiming the club's inaugural tournament crown.

Usman Farooqui

Usman is an opening bowler who can swing the ball both ways, at good pace. In his native Pakistan, Usman played in the same side as Pakistan's Yasir Arafat at Pindi Cricket Club for several seasons. He has turned in some match-winning performances in the indoor league so far, but has at least an extra yard of pace to unleash when the proper cricket resumes outside.

Nicknames: Doc, Usi
Favourite City: Lahore
Favourite Country: Pakistan
Favourite Food: Palak Paneer
Favourite Band: Backstreet Boys (!)
Favourite Film: Meet Joe Black / Forest Gump

Did you know? Usman is very good friends with former Pakistan player Imran Khan.

Adam Henchy

18-year-old Adam is a leg-spinning all-rounder who has impressed everyone since attending the club's net sessions. Adam is a big turner of the ball and a hard-hitting middle-order batsman. He joins us from Great Brickhill where he has been playing a mixture of 1st and 2nd XI cricket in the Cherwell League. He played a limited number of games for Great Brickhill in 2012 due to work committments, but is seeking to play regularly in 2013.

Did you know? Adam is a gym addict.

Max Warner

20-year-old Max returns to the club on a permament basis after making sporadic appearances over the past few years. Max is a seam bowler who has the pace to trouble most batsmen. He's also an explosive lower-order batsman. Max is the brother of former Leeds Carnegie rugby player George Warner.

Did you know? All of Max's cricket kit is given to him by Northamptonshire's Alex Wakely.
