Match Report

Eversholt took on Great Brickhil for the 2nd time in 3 weeks, this time at home, looking to do the league double over our near neighbours. Their skipper won the toss and opted to chase on what looked a good pitch, in the end both teams were happy with the outcome.

Buzz and Josh opened the batting and quickly put pressure on the Brickhill openers, adding 42 for the first wicket in 5 overs before Josh was out for an aggressive 21. Rowan came in at 3 and added a further 18 with Buzz before he was bowled looking to be aggressive. Jake joined Rowan, and the pair batted beautifully, putting on a stand of 128 in 23 overs, with both passing 50.

After passing his milestone, Jake put his foot down and was eventually out for 67 off 61, whilst Rowan batted on, anchoring the innings. Rowan was eventually run out for 75 (100), before cameos from Hassam (20 off 10), and Waqas (12 off 14) took Eversholt’s score to a highly competitive 260-7.

Ricky and Kamran opened the bowling, and Brickhill got off to a good start hitting 20 from the first two overs. Kammy got the breakthrough with the score on 25, clean bowling opener Pattni for 5. Number 3 Javed came in and put on a decent partnership with other opener John, adding 67 in 14 overs, but with the run rate mounting a slight mix up and a good bit of work at cover from Jake sent John back run out for 46.

Eversholt’s spinners squeezed the innings well and soon saw rewards as the required rate went north of 8 an over. Niaz added another 4 wicket haul to his season tally, finishing with 4-41, one wicket for Kalim before Hass finished the game off with 3 quick wickets in his 1.4 overs and Great Brickhill were bowled out for 159.

Man of the match goes to Jake for his 67, key run out and taking of the final catch of the Great Brickhill innings. Another good win for Eversholt and we stay top of the table.
