Sunday 1st XI Vs Bedford

The Sunday 1st XI were looking to bounce back after losing a gut wrencher away at Harrold on the first day of the season.

Bedford won the toss and elected to bat.

Eversholt’s opening bowlers Ricky and Kamran were exceptional in the first 10 overs, allowing no easy scoring, no width, and no freebies. Bedford’s opening stand was restricted to just 24 in 10 overs, which included a retirement hurt when Bedford’s opener hurt his knee turning for a second run.

Ricky bowled their number 3 with a nip-backer, before Kamran bowled the other opener for 13, leaving Bedford in a hole. Some power hitting from their number 4 threatened to take the game away from Eversholt, but he was winkled out by Buzz for a well made 63.

Contributions down the order helped Bedford make a very respectable 223-9.

Rowan and Buzz opened the batting for Eversholt, adding 59 for the first wicket in 12 overs. It was the introduction of Arjun Manku that changed the course of the game. First he bowled Buzz round his legs, before quickly trapping Rowan LBW and then nicking off Josh to the keeper, leaving Eversholt 76-3.

Jake and Hassam combined for a decent partnership before Jake was caught. Ross came and went, and when Kalim and Avo were both caught, we were struggling at 161-7. Hass remained and seemed the key to victory, but not long after he was caught behind off Odedra for 46.

Kamran, who’d not shown us his true batting potential until this point was the unlikely hero, hitting a remarkable 31 off 22, getting support from Peter (8) and last man Ricky (7*). Ricky and Kammy put on 29 for the last wicket to get us over the line in a great team win.

Man of the Match goes to Kamran for his spell of 8-1-19-1, but more importantly his extraordinary match winning 31* to get us over the line!
